ZOOM COACHING WITH KAREN CLARK AVAILABLE
"Karen’s approach to vocal technique helped me and my singing enormously. I contacted her as I was completing my masters in vocal performance and was having problems with tension in my body. Within a few sessions— via Zoom— Karen gave me the tools to really listen to my body. This gave me the confidence to focus more on the way I wanted to express. Karen is very creative and was always open to listening to my vocal needs. She helped me realize that I already had a good technical foundation and was able to guide me through breathing and vocal exercises she has developed based on the Feldenkrais Method®. As I was able to become more aware of my physical sensations in singing I was able to integrate the elements and knowledge I’ve acquired. My voice became more free and responsive to my imagination. Karen helped me do that.
My singing is still a work in progress and working with Karen helped me to use my body more, to express more, to enjoy more! Thank you Karen! "

One of Karen's great gifts as an instructor is her ability to help students with diverse musical interests and backgrounds, as her approach is truly bespoke to each individual. Karen's ability to integrate vocal technique with breath and bodywork was transformative for my singing. During our time together, Karen emphasized singing from sensation and encourages all of her students to trust their internal wisdom as independent artists. It is a real treat working with a teacher who understands the complexity and wonder of a singer's whole instrument. — Sara LeMesh, soprano

I gave an 8-hour chant workshop yesterday and it’s my first time teaching so long in the day that I haven’t had significant vocal fatigue by the end of the day! I also incorporated some of the exercises you’ve given me in the work, since the class was for professional singers. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be making this progress with my voice and with my students. Thank you! — Dr. Jennifer Donnelson-Nowicka,

“Dynamic singing from head to toe engages our awareness of sensations and imagination in myriad creative ways. Since your first utterances as a newborn baby, you’ve always used your voice. Yet, bringing awareness to how you sense what happens when you begin to sing—how you prepare and sustain a tone— is a whole new ball game.” Karen Clark
